This is a silk covered box (photo 2) holding a series of 8 small vases, each depicting a separate step in the highly skilled process of creating a cloisonné vase. The small enclosure, written in both English and Chinese, explains that order of cloisonné items is encouraged. The enclosed vases show the result of processes of base-hammering, copper wire curving, soldering, enamel filling, enamel burning, polishing, and gilding. And the final vase shows the finely crafted item. The box is labeled "Made in the Peoples Republic of China".
It measures about 13" long, 3" wide, and 2 deep. Each vase is a bit more than 2, with fine detailing, including the turquoise color enamel in the interior and on the very bottom. The vases are all in excellent condition, as is the printed enclosure (enclosure is in photos 3 & 10). The box has a very small amount of use apparent wear indications and a bit of aging of the lid lining, all as would be anticipated and appropriate for the age of the item. The item "CLOISONNE 8-VASE DISPLAY SALESMAN SAMPLE, PROCESS TEACHING TOOL, PEKING VINTAGE" is in sale since Saturday, March 14, 2020.
